The Filipino Community Center, Inc. (“FilCom Center”) celebrates its 12th Annual Pasko sa FilCom (Christmas at FilCom) on Sunday, December 2, 2018, 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the FilCom Center in Waipahu. Our theme this year is Salo-Salo Sa Pasko which means “Get Together at Christmas”. We invite you to join us in this celebration of the FilCom Center’s twelve years of bringing Filipinos and non-Filipinos together to learn about and celebrate the cultures and traditions of the Philippines and the experiences of Filipino-Americans.
Over the years, the FilCom Center has become a unique link within the Filipino community and between the Filipino community and the larger society. Not only has the FilCom Center provided a meeting place for Filipino organizations, functions and events, it has also conducted much needed social, economic and educational services, including NCLEX nursing licensure review classes, computer enrichment and workforce training workshops, financial literacy seminars, US citizenship classes, singing and dance lessons and martial arts classes.
This year, in the spirit of Salo-Salo Sa Pasko, Filipino and non-Filipino community groups, organizations and individuals are coming together to share their knowledge and talents in a day filled with singing, dancing, crafts, and cultural and public service exhibits. Since Pasko sa FilCom is a family-oriented event, activities for children are being planned. There will also be contests for creating parols, choral performances, tabletop Christmas tree decorations and karaoke singing.
Because each of these activities are being planned and conducted by volunteers, we would like to ask for your financial assistance to defray some of the costs for this event. Our sponsorship form is attached which describes the various financial assistance levels. This annual event attracts over 600 island residents and visitors. However, even if you are unable to become a sponsor or make a donation this year, please come to Pasko sa FilCom to celebrate the year, Philippine culture and the FilCom Center. We look forward to your participation.
