Celebrating a Resilient Community

Tagalog: Pagbubunyi Sa Katatagan Ng Komunidad | Ilokano: Panagdayaw Ti Kinapateg Iti Komunidad

We are thrilled to present our chosen theme, 'Celebrating a Resilient Community' for this year’s event. This theme transcends cultural boundaries and invites everyone to join us in honoring the collective strength that has carried us through challenges and triumphs alike. Our community, made up of diverse backgrounds and generations, has demonstrated remarkable resilience in the face of adversity. This theme serves as a unifying call to celebrate the fortitude that binds us together, acknowledging that our shared journey is marked by the determination to overcome obstacles and emerge stronger together.

In an effort to embrace the richness of our culture and language, we have included translations in Tagalog and Ilokano (mahalo to Clemen Montero and Lester Hael for their help with the translations). It is important to note that these translations represent one of many possible interpretations, rather than the definitive interpretation. Languages are diverse, and interpretations may vary based on regional nuances and personal experiences. We hope this serves as an opportunity to celebrate the beauty of linguistic diversity and to foster a greater understanding of our heritage. Maraming salamat po and agyaman kami! (Thank you very much!)

With a 50 year history of developing today and tomorrow's generation of leaders and changemakers in Hawaiʻi, members of the Filipino Jaycees have been key in helping establish Oahu’s Annual Filipino Fiesta, the Filipino Community Center, and the Miss Sampaguita Hawaiʻi Pageants. Prominent projects also include Save a Bottle Save a Life, Night of Honor, Top Outstanding Young Filipinos, the Luzviminda Fashion Show, Kamayan Feast, and the Filipino Cultural Summit.

In 2024, FJCH renewed its partnership with the Filipino Community Center to organize this year's Flores de Mayo & Filipino Fiesta.
